UNICEF to support 100 more schools to prepare for winter

Each school participating in the programme will receive UAH 290,500. These funds can be used to repair infrastructure, purchase, store and transport heating materials, and modernise school canteens.

Funds of up to UAH 83,000 can be used to repair and modernise school canteens.

The project is being implemented with the support of First Lady Olena Zelenska as part of the school feeding reform and is the result of cooperation between UNICEF, the Ministry of National Unity, the Ministry of Education and Science, and the Office of the President of Ukraine. The funds were provided by the Government of Norway.

The assistance in the amount of UAH 290,500 per school will be provided as a one-time grant in 2024-2025.

The new package of grants will help strengthen the resilience of Ukrainian schools and adds to the list of 700 schools that were selected for financial support under the programme in October.

The schools were selected based on the following criteria:

– schools located in frontline areas with more than 200 students;

– schools with at least 50 children from among the internally displaced persons.
