These regulatory changes were discussed during a special meeting on problematic issues of agrarian business in the context of war chaired by Vice Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk.
As a result of the war, many relocated farmers have lost their assets in the TOT and are currently unable to fulfill their obligations under bank loans.
Two issues were discussed at the meeting, in particular:
- The need to prolong existing loans granted to agricultural businesses under the Government’s Affordable Loans 5-7-9% program. This applies to enterprises relocated to the government-controlled territory.
- The need to suspend foreclosure on collateral or pledges for loans for the period of martial law.
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy will prepare the relevant proposals for regulatory changes jointly with the NBU, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Economy.
If adopted, the amendments will help support relocated farmers.
“It is difficult for relocated farmers now. Banks should support them,” the Vice Prime Minister said.
