The Zhytomyr region has been hosting evacuated residents of Donetsk Oblast since April 18, 2023, in accordance with the decision of the Government Coordination Headquarters.
Since then, the region has hosted more than 1,100 people. Among them are 149 people with limited mobility and disabilities and 279 children.
They have been accommodated in the territorial communities of Berdychiv, Zhytomyr, Zvyagol and Korosten districts of Zhytomyr region.
The evacuees received one-time financial assistance totaling over UAH 2.5 million.
Upon arrival in the host communities, they received humanitarian and medical assistance. In particular, the responsible specialists from the local communities of the region provided comprehensive assistance in providing educational services to all children.
They also helped with issuing certificates of IDP registration, state aid for accommodation, renewal of documents, etc.
“I am sincerely grateful to the Zhytomyr CMA, and in particular Olena Hryshchuk, the communities, Ukrzaliznytsia, Ukrposhta, the State Emergency Service and the International Organization for Migration for the fact that our Donetsk residents not only received help, but also felt warmth and support,” the Vice Prime Minister emphasized.
