Coordination Centre in Chernivtsi became a platform for fruitful work to support IDPs and veterans

Its activities were reviewed at an expanded meeting of the Coordination Centre for Civilian Support under the Chernivtsi Regional Military Administration (CHRMA). The event was attended by Vice Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk.

The discussion was joined by Ruslan Zaparaniuk, Head of the Chovyna Regional Military Administration, members of the Coordination Centre, MPs, heads of district military administrations, heads of local communities, and representatives of international and civil society organisations.

Among other things, it was discussed that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Chernivtsi region has become one of the key regions for receiving and accommodating IDPs. They are currently in need of support, including from international partners. In particular, in providing IDPs with disabilities with barrier-free access to places of temporary residence.

They also discussed housing for IDPs. Chernivtsi Oblast is working on long-term solutions to this issue, actively implementing various programmes and initiatives.

The Vice Prime Minister noted that dormitories that are currently not in use can be converted into temporary accommodation for IDPs. The Ministry of Reintegration is already helping to implement such cases. In particular, in Lviv and Vinnytsia regions.

The state of employment of internally displaced persons was also discussed. In particular, the need to properly inform them about available opportunities for vocational training, retraining, advanced training, grant programmes, etc.

Finally, the meeting participants reported on the implementation of the veterans’ policy. Problematic issues were also raised.

“Supporting veterans is currently one of our main tasks. Therefore, I ask you to clearly formulate all requests in this regard. So that the Government understands what kind of assistance you need,” the Vice Prime Minister said.
