The Unified Entrance Exam (UEE) is to be replaced by a foreign language interview. This was announced by a representative of the Ministry of Education and Science during a meeting of the Coordination Headquarters for the De-occupied Territories, chaired by Vice Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk.
During previous meetings, the proposal to conduct the EIE for students from the temporarily occupied territories in a limited distance format was discussed.
However, according to the Ukrainian Centre for Educational Quality Assessment, it is not possible to conduct the EIE in this format for this category of people. This is due to the fact that it is impossible to organise proper identification of participants and guarantee compliance with the principles of academic integrity in such an entrance examination.
Therefore, the Ministry of Education and Science is currently considering the possibility of replacing the EMI with a foreign language interview, which will be conducted by higher education institutions remotely. That is, to return the rules that were in force last year.
This applies to citizens who:
- declare that they are in the TOT and are completing their bachelor’s degree this year;
- plan to apply for a master’s degree at the same educational institution in a speciality that does not require a single professional entrance test.
“We have to ensure fair and accessible admission to a master’s degree programme for students from the temporarily occupied territories. Therefore, I thank everyone who contributes to this,” the Vice Prime Minister said.
