This was discussed at a meeting of the Coordination Headquarters for the mandatory evacuation of the population under martial law chaired by Vice Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk. The meeting was held on 15 May in Kharkiv.
The public is being informed by all appropriate means of communication. We are constantly collecting information about the presence of people who have remained in dangerous settlements. As well as the number and categories of those who have left for safe areas. This includes those who left by private transport or with the assistance of volunteer organisations.
In total, more than 500 people are involved in the evacuation efforts. Volunteers used more than 50 vehicles to evacuate people. This includes 19 special vehicles for transporting people with reduced mobility. Specialised equipment from the National Police and the State Emergency Service is also involved.
At the humanitarian hub in Kharkiv, people are provided with primary medical and psychological care, meals and temporary accommodation. The evacuees will then be offered accommodation in temporary accommodation centres set up on the basis of Kharkiv’s educational institutions’ dormitories.
The Deputy Prime Minister thanked everyone who is involved in the evacuation of civilians to Kharkiv from the border areas where the fighting is taking place.
