The decision to evacuate children by force was agreed with legal representatives from certain settlements of Kharkiv region

These are orphans and children deprived of parental care, together with their legal representatives. The decision was agreed upon by members of the Coordination Headquarters for the Compulsory Evacuation of the Population under Martial Law, chaired by Vice Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk.

The compulsory evacuation of 123 children is planned to be carried out from 36 settlements in Bohodukhiv, Izium, Kupyansk and Chuhuiv districts.

The evacuees will first be accommodated in Kharkiv, and then Volyn Oblast will host them.

UNICEF and the SOS Children’s Villages organisation will join the evacuation efforts. The Vice Prime Minister stressed the importance of establishing communication channels between all those involved.

The evacuation will last for 60 days. It is free of charge.
