Algorithm of actions under the rubble:
- Call for help, try to call 101. Do not move to avoid aggravating the situation.
- If you are covered with small objects, carefully remove them if it is safe to do so.
- Check yourself and others. If you are injured, apply a bandage to stop the bleeding.
- When clearing debris, rescuers often announce a “minute of silence”. During this time, you should call for help as loudly as possible.
- Do not use a lighter or matches.
What to do if you are with a child:
- Help your child to calm down, hug or hold their hand, and breathe deeply and slowly together.
- If there is no water, ask your child to hold their saliva in their mouth and make movements as if they are chewing and swallowing.
If the child is under the rubble alone:
- Call him/her to see if he/she is conscious.
- Ask how they are feeling: if they are in pain, if they can move their arms and legs.
- Keep in touch: tell stories, recall happy moments, and assure them that you will get help.
