Citizens of frontline areas will be able to harvest fuel wood for household needs free of charge

The Government has made the decision today. Residents of the territories where military operations are ongoing or have been ongoing will be able to harvest fuel wood for household needs free of charge. This refers to the logging residues that remain after felling.

Harvesting will be possible provided that it is safe to stay in the respective forest areas.

Local military administrations (local self-government bodies) will inform the population about the possibility of independent logging.

This provision will be in force during the legal regime of martial law and for 6 months from the date of its termination or cancellation.

The relevant act was developed by the Ministry of Ecology pursuant to the instruction of Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal following his working visit to Donetsk region. It was also developed in pursuance of a protocol instruction from a meeting on humanitarian response in Kharkiv Oblast chaired by Vice Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk.
