This topic was discussed at a meeting on internally displaced persons chaired by Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk.
The participants listened to a presentation by the Head of the Kyiv office of the Register of damages caused by the Russian aggression against Ukraine. The report concerned the functioning of the Register and the further development of an appropriate international mechanism for obtaining compensation in the future.
In particular, it was noted that the Registry Board had recently approved forms and rules for submitting new 16 categories of claims for damages caused to victims of Russian aggression. These include those who have been forcibly displaced outside Ukraine, illegally deprived of their liberty, forced labour or service, forcible transfer or deportation, loss of housing/place of residence, etc.
The application forms and rules for these new categories will be open for submission after the Conference of the Registry’s participants approves them and their technical implementation.
The speaker also reminded the meeting participants that the Conference of the Registry’s Participants has already approved 13 application forms for different categories. 12 of them are undergoing the process of technical implementation for access through the Diia web portal.
Since April 2024, the Register of Losses for Ukraine has already been accepting applications from Ukrainian citizens in one category – damage or destruction of residential real estate.
