Highlights for the week of September 30 – October 6

In preparation for the heating season, Dnipro, Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Sumy, and Chernihiv regions received a total of 600 generators. This became possible thanks to the cooperation of the Ministry of Reintegration and the EU Civil Protection Mechanism with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland. The generators will be used to ensure uninterrupted power supply to social and healthcare institutions, staging areas and other critical infrastructure facilities in the event of blackouts.

The Ministry of Reintegration has approved the Methodological Recommendations for Conducting an IDP Needs Assessment at the Community Level. The relevant order was adopted as part of the implementation of the State Policy Strategy on Internal Displacement until 2025. The recommendations have been handed over to the regional and Kyiv city military administrations for use at the local level.

The PACE adopted a resolution on missing persons, prisoners of war and civilians in captivity as a result of Russian aggression. In this document, the Assembly calls for the immediate release of these categories of persons and condemns torture and ill-treatment.

The Cabinet of Ministers has transferred 28 modular gas boiler houses from state to municipal ownership to Kharkiv, Dnipro and Kremenchuk city territorial communities. The draft act was developed by the Ministry of Economy jointly with the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development. This issue was discussed at meetings on humanitarian response organized by the Ministry of Reintegration.

The Government has adopted a resolution that provides for the distribution of a subvention from the state budget to local budgets in the amount of UAH 2 billion for school meals for primary school students in 2024. This will make it possible to provide meals for almost 800 thousand students in grades 1-4. The resolution was developed by the Ministry of Education and Science as part of the school feeding reform initiated by First Lady Olena Zelenska.
