Bring Kids Back UA: presentation of the White Paper on reintegration and rehabilitation of children who survived deportation and forced displacement

The white paper “Reintegration of Children Survivors of Deportation and Forced Displacement: International Standards and Best Practices for Ukraine” was presented by the International Expert Group Bring Kids Back UA. The event was held at the Office of the President. This is stated on the website of the PresidentialOffice.

The presentation was attended by Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak, Advisor to the Head of the Presidential Office, Chief Operating Officer of Bring Kids Back UA Daria Zarivna, Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin, Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Iryna Vereshchuk, and Advisor to the Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights and Child Rehabilitation Daria Gerasymchuk.

The event was also joined by Co-Chair of the International Expert Group Bring Kids Back UA, Director of the International Bar Association Human Rights Institute (IBAHRI), Lady Helena Kennedy, Senior Advisor on Transitional Justice Sharanjit Parmar and Senior Expert on Transitional Justice and Government Relations at the Partnership for a Strong Ukraine Foundation Anthony Triolo.

The presented document is a continuation of the first White Paper, which focused on the process of returning Ukrainian children home.

The second White Paper provides practical recommendations on how to help Ukrainian children returning to Ukraine to reestablish their identity and reintegrate into society. It also emphasizes the need for psychosocial support for these children.

The document emphasizes the need for coordinated efforts between government agencies, civil society and international partners to meet their needs.
