Highlights for the week of November 11 – November 17

During a working visit to Irpin, Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Iryna Vereshchuk, together with the team of the Ministry of Reintegration and international partners , checked the progress of major repairs of houses affected by the war. Their reconstruction is being carried out within the framework of the international technical assistance project “Improvement of Housing Conditions of Internally Displaced Persons”. It is being implemented through the UN International Organization for Migration with the financial support of the German Government. The government has allocated more than UAH 17 million for compensation for free accommodation of IDPs in state-owned, municipal and private property. This refers to reimbursement for utilities consumed during the free stay of internally displaced persons. The Cabinet of Ministers’ decision provides for the coverage of additional expenses for March 2022 – June 2024. The detailed allocation of funds is available here.

On November 12-13, the first European Regional School Feeding Summit was held in Kyiv. The event was attended by First Lady Olena Zelenska, representatives of the Presidential Office, Ukrainian and European ambassadors and high-ranking officials, experts and civil society activists, as well as representatives of more than 20 international organizations. The Coordination Center for Mandatory Evacuation of the Population under Martial Law supported the decision of the Donetsk and Kharkiv Regional Military Administrations to forcibly evacuate children and their families from certain settlements in these regions. The Cabinet of Ministers has improved the mechanism for granting subventions for the purchase of school buses with seats for people with disabilities. The relevant resolution was adopted as part of the National Strategy for Creating a Barrier-Free Space in Ukraine until 2030, which was initiated by First Lady Olena Zelenska.
