Highlights for the week of November 18 – November 24

Assistance continues to be provided to ensure heating for residents of the frontline areas during the 2024-2025 heating season. UNHCR representatives reported on the payment of one-time cash assistance for the purchase of solid fuel. It is a payment of 21 thousand hryvnias per vulnerable household in the frontline areas. The joint project of the Ministry of Reintegration and UNICEF to support families with children in the frontline areas continues. As part of it, 103,358 people, including 44,024 children, have already received financial assistance in the amount of UAH 21,800. Communities in Chernihiv Oblast received 98 generators from international partners. The assistance came as part of a project to provide uninterrupted power supplies to the frontline areas. Its successful implementation was made possible by the coordinated cooperation of the Ministry of Local Development, the Ministry of Reintegration, the Chernihiv Regional State Administration, and the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism.

On November 18-19, the Youth Diplomatic Forum was held in Kyiv. The event was attended by representatives of state authorities, leading humanitarian organizations, international institutions, as well as MPs, diplomats, students and young professionals aged 18-30. On the occasion of the one thousandth day of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the UK Government imposed sanctions against 10 individuals and legal entities involved in the forced deportation of Ukrainian children. The restrictions apply to Russian officials and “youth organizations.” Read more about those on the sanctions list in the article.

The Verkhovna Rada adopted in general the draft law No. 11281 on ensuring the housing rights of internally displaced persons. Its provisions were repeatedly discussed at special meetings organized by the Ministry of Reintegration. The document provides for an all-Ukrainian inventory of state-owned, municipal and, with the owner’s consent, private real estate that can be used to provide IDPs with housing.
