Oleksiy Ryabykin, Deputy Minister of Communities and Territories Development, chaired the first meeting of the expert working group that reviews draft regional development strategies until 2027 and plans for their implementation. The group includes representatives of the Ministry of Development, the expert community and MPs.

Oleksiy Ryabikin stressed the importance of updating regional strategies for the future development of regions in the difficult conditions of wartime and post-war recovery.
‘A strategy is our guide, a document that we should use in our everyday lives. It is our plan, our vision, what we have to do for people, taking into account their opinions. It is very important that we are implementing this approach today.
Our goal is to create realistic and effective strategies that take into account the challenges of the time: rebuilding infrastructure and developing the economy,
integration of internally displaced persons, strengthening security and attracting investment to the regions.
Each region has its own potential, and strategic planning will help us make the most of it,’ said the Deputy Minister.
At the first meeting, the expert group reviewed the development strategies of the Chernivtsi, Rivne, Zhytomyr and Kyiv Oblasts. The strategy of the Chernivtsi Oblast was approved, and the projects for the Zhytomyr and Rivne Oblasts were recommended for approval after revisions. The Kyiv region’s strategy was not supported and the regional administration was recommended to revise it.

The expert working group will continue its activities in the format of further meetings, during which the strategies of all regions and action plans for their implementation will be considered. Once finalised and agreed, all strategies must be approved by the relevant regional councils.
