The work on updating regional strategies is an important step for the sustainable development of Ukrainian regions, particularly in the context of war and recovery.

The second meeting of the expert working group working on regional development strategies until 2027 was chaired by Oleksiy Ryabikin, Deputy Minister of Communities and Territories Development.
The work on updating regional strategies is an important step for the sustainable development of Ukrainian regions, in particular in the context of war and recovery. Oleksiy Ryabykin stressed that each region needs clear plans adapted to the current challenges, which can become the basis for real change.
‘Our goal is to make regional strategies effective tools that will help communities respond more quickly to challenges, rebuild infrastructure and ensure economic growth. Each region has its own opportunities, and we need to use them as efficiently as possible for the sake of overall success,’ said Oleksiy Ryabikin.

The meeting considered the strategies of Sumy, Vinnytsia, Mykolaiv, Kirovohrad and Chernihiv regions. It was recommended to approve the strategies for Vinnytsia and Sumy regions after revisions. At the same time, the draft strategies for Mykolaiv, Kirovohrad and Chernihiv regions were not supported, as they need to be improved based on the comments and suggestions of experts.

The expert working group will continue its work in a series of meetings to review the strategies of all regions and their implementation plans. Once finalised and agreed, the strategies will be approved by the relevant regional councils.
The expert working group on drafting regional development strategies and action plans for their implementation includes representatives of the Ministry of Development, the expert community and MPs.
