Oleksiy Ryabykin, Deputy Minister of Development of Communities and Territories, held the third meeting of the expert working group considering draft regional development strategies until 2027 and plans for their implementation
Oleksiy Ryabikin emphasised that regional strategies play a key role in the development of regions, so it is important that they are comprehensive, take into account the needs of communities and meet modern challenges.
‘Updating regional strategies is a key process for the effective development of regions in the coming years. They define the priorities that will be used to make decisions on reconstruction, economic growth and improving the quality of life in communities. It is important that the strategies are adapted to current challenges and adjusted in response to comments to meet the real needs of the regions. The work is ongoing, and it is important that the regions not only update but constantly improve their plans, taking into account expert recommendations,’ said the Deputy Minister.

The strategies of Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Kirovohrad and Chernihiv Oblasts were reviewed and agreed upon at the meeting. This is another important step in shaping a modern regional policy that will allow communities to develop systematically and effectively. The strategies for the Ternopil and Odesa regions were not supported, as they need to be revised to take into account the comments and suggestions of experts.

The working group will continue its activities, gradually reviewing the strategies of all regions and action plans for their implementation. Once finalised and agreed by the working group, these documents will be approved by the regional councils, and they will be used to formulate specific steps for regional development.
We would like to remind you that at the previous meetings, the strategies for Vinnytsia, Sumy, Chernivtsi, Zhytomyr and Rivne regions were approved.
The expert working group on drafting regional development strategies and action plans for their implementation includes representatives of the Ministry of Development, the expert community and MPs.
