The Ministry of Development discussed a comprehensive programme of support for IDPs

Oleksiy Kuleba, Vice Prime Minister for Reconstruction of Ukraine and Minister of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine, held an interagency working meeting to discuss a comprehensive programme of support for internally displaced persons.

The meeting was attended by representatives of relevant ministries, the Presidential Office, including Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Iryna Vereshchuk, as well as the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets, MPs, heads of regional military administrations and community leaders. This is another stage in the process of developing a programme of support for IDPs, which is being worked on by representatives of various agencies and experts.

‘The IDP support programme is extremely important, as it is aimed at helping people who have lost their normal lives due to the war. It is important that a wide range of specialists are involved in the development of the programme. Working together allows us to take into account the needs of all categories of internally displaced persons and develop tools that will ensure the effectiveness of the programme at every level. Together we are creating solutions that will really work on the ground and meet the needs of people,’ said Oleksiy Kuleba.

The team of the Ministry of Development presented a preliminary vision of the IDP support programme, which will include a comprehensive package of services: housing programmes, economic support, employment, educational and retraining opportunities, medical care, social protection and the development of a unified digital system of services for IDPs.

The programme should combine a wide range of initiatives that will help solve not only urgent housing and social issues, but also provide opportunities for economic activity and professional growth for IDPs.

Those present at the meeting had the opportunity to read the materials presented in detail and provide their comments and suggestions. Participants noted the importance of a systematic approach to IDP support and stressed that taking into account different expert opinions would create an effective and efficient tool to help people in need.

The next step will be to finalise the programme and present it to the general public.
