Oleksiy Kuleba, Vice Prime Minister for Reconstruction and Minister of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine, visited Posad-Pokrovske in Kherson Oblast together with Serhiy Sukhomlyn, head of the Reconstruction Agency. They inspected the housing under reconstruction in the village.

Posad Pokrovske was almost destroyed by Russian shelling: 80% of the buildings were completely destroyed.
In the spring of 2023, the village was included in the list of settlements where housing will be rebuilt as part of a pilot project of the State Agency for Reconstruction.

‘The pace of reconstruction must meet the needs of people, so the work must be accelerated. In recent months, 220 houses have been dismantled. The villagers need more. Tender procedures are underway and new projects have been developed. The task is to restore 362 houses by the end of autumn. This is our direct responsibility to the people,’ commented Oleksiy Kuleba.

The Minister stressed that housing reconstruction is only one component of the recovery. According to him, it should be comprehensive. This means creating jobs, providing medical, educational, social services, shelters, etc.
Separately, Oleksiy Kuleba met with Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, and contractors. They reported to the Minister on the status of work at the facilities.
In addition to Pokrovske Posadas, the pilot project includes: Borodianka and Moshchun in Kyiv Oblast, Trostianets in Sumy Oblast, Tsyrkuny in Kharkiv Oblast and Yahidne in Chernihiv Oblast.

The project’s comprehensive reconstruction involves the restoration of the entire infrastructure rather than individual buildings and is based on the Build Back Better principle.
