Over the two years of the programme’s operation, nearly 100,000 Ukrainian families have received funds to rebuild damaged homes or purchase new homes. Almost 10,000 of them were able to purchase new housing. Oleksiy Kuleba, Vice Prime Minister for Recovery and Minister of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine, said this during the telethon of the United News TV marathon.
The assistance to families for the repair of damaged housing has already amounted to UAH 9.8 billion. The state has made it possible to generate 17.4 thousand housing certificates worth over UAH 25 billion. Almost a thousand applications for payments for the construction of new housing on their own land have already been received.
Oleksiy Kuleba stressed that the Ministry of Development is working on scaling up the programme.
‘Over the past year, we have scaled up the eRestoration programme – at the initiative of the Ministry of Development, the Government has allocated UAH 15 billion for payments for destroyed or damaged housing for internally displaced persons. More than four thousand IDP families have already benefited from the programme.
We have also started paying compensation to owners of private houses who lost their homes as a result of the war and want to rebuild their homes on their own land – the first 600 families are already receiving funds for construction,’ said the Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction.
He also noted that the team of the Ministry of Development is working on launching a support programme for internally displaced persons. It will include opportunities for preferential mortgage lending, affordable educational, social and medical services, as well as the creation of business opportunities for IDPs in their new place of residence.
