The Ministry of Reintegration, together with the State Agency for Youth and Sports, with the financial support of the German Government, is implementing the programme “Housing for Internally Displaced Persons”. This programme has already proven itself quite well.
This was reported by Vice Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk in an interview with First Western TV channel.
Thanks to this programme, IDP families can buy housing on credit at the lowest rate in Ukraine – 3% per annum. This makes mortgages affordable for many IDPs.
The programme has already provided housing for 1,500 internally displaced people.
“This project has shown its effectiveness well. Now we need to scale it up. By the way, 35,000 families are already on the waiting list to participate in it. To expand mortgage programmes for IDPs, we need additional financial resources from international partners,” the Vice Prime Minister said.
Iryna Vereshchuk also emphasised that a preferential mortgage at 3% per annum would also facilitate the return of able-bodied Ukrainians from abroad, which is already becoming one of the government’s priorities.
