During a working trip to Volyn together with Members of Parliament Viacheslav Rublov and Serhii Kozyr, Minister for Communities, Territories and Internally Displaced Persons of Ukraine Vitalii Bezghin visited a dormitory of Lutsk National Technical University. Today it is home to 113 internally displaced persons — students and teachers from the eastern regions of Ukraine. The university has created decent living conditions: modern living quarters, kitchens, a shelter and a barrier-free environment.
Olena Fomina, Professor at the Department of Marketing, came from Donetsk and has been working at the university for a year now. This is the key point — full integration: having a home, studying, working, using services and gradually becoming part of the local community.
The Minister thanked the university management and the regional and city authorities for their productive joint work and proactive approach. It is exactly this kind of effective approach that should become national practice.
“Our task is to involve the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Social Policy, regional military administrations, international partners, local self-government and educational institutions in order to develop a clear roadmap for scaling up this approach. We must ensure that successful projects do not remain isolated examples but become a systematic policy for the development of Ukraine’s regions — above all in the western oblasts, which today host a large number of internally displaced people,” Vitalii Bezghin stressed.
