IDP certificates issued previously will remain valid after the transition to the new registration system, according to the Ministry of Social Policy

The Ministry of Social Policy has ensured that the transition to the new IDP registration system will be straightforward for people. There is no need to renew previously issued certificates or re-register in connection with the new law, which takes effect on October 22.

To bring the registration of internally displaced persons into compliance with the new legislation, the Ministry of Social Policy, Family, and Unity of Ukraine has drafted a corresponding resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

“I want to reassure people—IDP certificates issued previously will remain valid. People will not need to replace the documents they have received or re-register due to the transition to the new system,” said Tetyana Kirienko, Deputy Minister of Social Policy, Family, and Unity.

People applying for IDP registration for the first time after October 22 will, as before, be able to obtain a certificate through the “Diya” app, at a Center for Administrative Services (CAS), or at a social protection agency.

The current procedures for applying for and receiving assistance for internally displaced persons will also remain in place.

The update to the registration system involves a transition to the Unified Information Database on Internally Displaced Persons. Once the database becomes operational, registration status can be confirmed using an extract from the database, which will be issued in either paper or electronic form.

At the same time, the transition to the new system will take place in phases. Thus, the entry into force of the new law does not require the reissuance of previously obtained documents.
