Presidential Office hosts meeting with families of civilians held in captivity

The event was attended by representatives of the government, civil society organizations, and families of civilians held in Russian captivity. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Iryna Vereshchuk.

Representatives of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, the Joint Center for the Coordination of the Search and Release of Prisoners of War under the Security Service of Ukraine, the Secretariat of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, the Ministry of Defense, the General Staff, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Social Policy, the National Information Bureau, the Ministry of Reintegration, MP Olha Vasylevska-Smagliuk and others answered the questions of relatives of persons held by the Russian Federation.

The meeting discussed the following issues:

– making the return of civilians held captive by the Russian Federation a priority for the authorities;

– interim results of the work on the search and release of civilians from captivity;

– mechanisms for the release of civilians, including the formation of a final and complete list of women held captive by the Russian Federation;

– involvement of international partners in the process of returning civilians from Russian captivity;

– Amendments to the legislation on the mobilization of Ukrainian civilians released from Russian captivity, etc.

Also, the civil society organizations present at the meeting expressed their desire to involve their representatives in the process of developing tactics for the return to Ukraine of civilians held captive by the aggressor state.
