USAID Competitive Economy of Ukraine Program allocates $1.8 million to support employment of Ukrainians

The initiative is aimed at improving the skills and retraining of specialists in accordance with market needs. This was reported by the Government Portal.

The project is designed to help young people, veterans, people with disabilities and internally displaced persons realize their potential in the labor market by providing them with the necessary skills for in-demand professions in the most dynamic sectors of the economy.

In addition, the initiative supports women in acquiring skills in professions that have been statistically dominated by men, and strengthens cooperation between the private sector and vocational education and training institutions. It also encourages businesses to create new jobs and train specialists for promising sectors of the economy.

The project focuses on upskilling and retraining specialists in areas critical to Ukraine’s recovery, such as construction and logistics.

The program consists of 8 components, each with a budget of $230 thousand, and will run from November 2024 to June 30, 2025.

1. Building an HR community for the development of Ukrainian business and the labor market.

2. Professional development and retraining of specialists with further employment.

3. Involvement of the private sector in professional development through the development of corporate social responsibility.

4. Expanding employment opportunities for veterans, IDPs, people with disabilities, women and youth through social enterprises and socially responsible business.

5. Supporting construction and logistics companies in hiring women, youth, people with disabilities, veterans and internally displaced persons.

6. Support and reintegration of veterans, IDPs, people with disabilities, women and youth in the labor market.

7. Cooperation between vocational institutions and the private sector for professional development and retraining.

8. Industry partnership initiative for the employment of students and young professionals.

Companies and organizations can apply to participate in one or more components of the initiative.
