About 40% of those released from Russian captivity were considered missing

Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, 58 prisoner of war exchanges have taken place. We managed to return 3767 of our citizens, of whom almost 40% were considered missing.

This was reported by Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets inan interview.

He emphasized that Ukraine uses various methods to search for and return its citizens. One of them is the constant submission of lists for the exchange of all defenders who are in the registers of the National Information Bureau (NIB), regardless of status: either missing or a prisoner of war confirmed by the ICRC.

However, Russia hardly ever responds to requests and ignores our initiatives, manipulating the emotions of the families of missing persons and prisoners of war.

We remind you that you can report information about a person in captivity or missing to the NIB by calling the short number 1648 (for calls from abroad: +38 (044) 287-81-65) or filling out an online form on the bureau’s website.
