What TOT residents should do during the occupation pseudo-elections

Any attempts by the occupation authorities to organize and hold pseudo-elections in the temporarily occupied territories are illegal. These actions contradict Ukrainian legislation, as well as the fundamental principles and norms of international law, the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine reminds.

The results of such “elections” will not have any legal consequences and cannot be recognized by the international community.

Therefore, Ukrainians who were forced to stay in the TOT should refrain from

  • Participation in the “elections”
  • disseminating information or campaigning;
  • observing pseudo-elections;
  • other activities aimed at organizing and conducting these illegal elections.

It is noted that participation in the organization and holding of pseudo-elections or public calls for their holding are subject to criminal liability.
