Today, the Government has adopted amendments to the Cabinet of Ministers’ Resolution No. 930 of 1 September 2023 “Some issues of functioning of temporary accommodation places for internally displaced persons”.
The draft resolution was developed by the Ministry of Reintegration.
In particular, the amendments provide for:
- The deadline for bringing the premises into compliance with the minimum requirements has been extended until 1 January 2025.
- In the absence of identity documents, IDPs will now be able to be accommodated for 60 days. Previously, it was 30 days.
- Non-residential premises can now be used as temporary accommodation for IDPs. For example, hotels and hostels.
- Now, if an ICC has been renovated at the expense of international donors, such an ICC cannot be excluded from the list of ICCs. This will prevent unjustified eviction of IDPs from the CCs.
This decision of the Government will help protect the rights of internally displaced persons.
