Payments to military families in case of captivity or disappearance: The Rada has adopted an important law

MPs supported in general the draft law No. 11407, which amends Article 9 of the Law of Ukraine ‘On Social and Legal Protection of Servicemen and Members of Their Families’.

According to the document, servicemen taken prisoner or hostage, as well as interned in neutral states or missing in action, will continue to receive their financial support until the circumstances are fully clarified, but no longer than until the day the serviceman is removed from the list of personnel of the military unit.

It is expected that servicemen will be able to independently determine the family members who will receive their financial support in case of their capture or disappearance.

To do so, the serviceman must draw up a personal order, determining the percentage of such persons’ share, and submit it to the commander of the military unit or the commander of the subdivision.

In the absence of such an order, the payment of financial support will be made in equal shares in the order of priority.
