European banks will allocate 52 million euros for the development of emergency services in Ukraine

The European Investment Bank (EIB) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) have signed a statement of intent to provide grant funding to Ukraine for the development of the emergency assistance system. This was reported by the Government portal.

Ukraine will receive a grant of €12 million to create a unified emergency dispatch system with a toll-free 112 emergency number, which operates in EU member states. The total support for the project will include this grant and an additional loan of €40 million.

The project aims to integrate ambulance, police, fire, and emergency gas services into a single emergency response system.

In particular, it involves the creation of modern call centers and IT infrastructure. This will help adapt these services to European standards.

Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the EBRD has invested about EUR 5 billion in Ukraine. The bulk of these funds have been allocated to support the energy sector.

As of October 2024, the total amount of funding exceeds €20 billion.
