The presentation was made during a meeting of the Coordination Headquarters for Ensuring the Rights and Freedoms of Internally Displaced Persons chaired by Vice Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk.
The IDP Council at the Rivne Regional Military Administration consists of 24 members.
Since the Council was established in September 2023, it has held 7 meetings and many working sessions. They discussed the needs of internally displaced persons.
In 2024, the IDP Council plans to implement the following main strategies:
- Programmatic assistance to internally displaced persons through various events with the participation of IDPs and
and the local community. - Capacity development of IDPs of different ages and genders in Rivne city territorial community – both those who arrived here in 2014-2015 and those who were displaced as a result of the full-scale invasion in 2022.
- Comprehensive information for IDPs.
During its work, the Council has received more than 70 requests from IDPs. These included clarification of tax legislation, the exercise of the rights of Ukrainians abroad, and the resolution of housing issues. Today, IDPs’ requests have changed significantly – from individual, i.e. local assistance, to employment-oriented.
The IDP Council is actively involved in informational, social and cultural events to develop tools for the integration of IDPs in Rivne region.
Negotiations are also underway to adapt the MySyla platform to the needs and context of Rivne region.
‘Thank you for helping our new internally displaced people. It is extremely important that you can help them and advise them from your own experience on how to adapt to new communities,’ the Vice Prime Minister said.
