Modern dormitory for 47 IDP families opened in Zvyagel

A modern hostel for internally displaced persons was opened in Zvyagel, where 47 families received keys to new smart apartments

The project was implemented within the framework of grant funding from the European Union and cooperation of state and international partners.

The new dormitory for IDPs was opened with the participation of Oleksiy Ryabykin, Deputy Minister of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine, Vitaliy Bunechko, Head of Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration, and representatives of local authorities and business.

‘Supporting internally displaced people, including in housing issues, is about security, equal opportunities and confidence in the future. The Ministry of Development supports community initiatives in this direction and works to ensure that as many Ukrainians who have lost their homes due to the war receive new ones as possible. It is important that everyone has decent conditions for life, development and integration into the community,’ emphasised Oleksiy Ryabikin.

The dormitory was set up in the building of the former Blood Centre, which had not been used for a long time. As part of the reconstruction, 47 smart apartments were created with furniture and necessary appliances. In addition, engineering networks were modernised, an individual heating point was installed, a solar power plant was set up for energy efficiency and a modern fire safety system was introduced.

Special attention was paid to inclusiveness: the building has ramps, a special lift for people with limited mobility, a safe shelter, a playground and a classroom.

The project was implemented thanks to the cooperation of the Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration, local authorities, the European Union, the Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (NEFCO), Global Consulting Ukraine LLC and Amega LLC.
