Highlights for the week of 9 September – 15 September

In 2022-2024, the Ministry of Reintegration paid more than UAH 1.4 billion in state aid to prisoners of war and their families. The Commission for establishing the fact of deprivation of personal liberty as a result of armed aggression against Ukraine continues to operate under the Ministry of Reintegration. The Ministry expects to receive additional funds for this purpose this year.

The International Committee of the Red Cross, in partnership with the Ministry of Reintegration, is actively preparing frontline communities for the autumn and winter period. Read about the types of assistance provided this year in the article.

The State Agency for Youth and Housing has selected another 800 families to receive a loan under the Ukrainian-German programme ‘Housing for Internally Displaced Persons’. They will be able to purchase housing on credit at the lowest interest rate in Ukraine of 3% per annum.

The International Committee of the Red Cross, in partnership with the Ministry of Reintegration, supports the resilience of energy and heat supply systems in the frontline areas. Read more about the projects here.

Ukraine initiated a meeting of the UN Security Council in connection with Russian shelling of Ukrainian civilian infrastructure.

More than 2.6 thousand Ukrainians have expressed a desire to join the civil servants’ reserve in the de-occupied territories. Almost 92% of them have been successfully enrolled in the talent pool.

Applications for financial assistance for the purchase of solid fuel will be accepted until 25 September. This decision was made to ensure the fullest coverage of vulnerable populations in the frontline areas with the assistance provided by the joint project of UNHCR and the Ministry of Reintegration.

Two prisoner exchanges took place this week. During the first one, 49 Ukrainians were released from enemy captivity. The next day, 103 Ukrainian defenders were released.
